(Cleveland) - Some members of Cleveland City Council are holding a meeting tonight regarding safety in some east side neighborhoods.
The meeting is being hosted by Council members Zack Reed, Phyllis Cleveland and Mamie Mitchell and will include updates and safety tips from the Cleveland Police and Cleveland Rape Crisis Center.
The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. at the E Prep Woodland Hills Campus, 9201 Crane Avenue near E. 93rd Street and Union Avenue.
Last week, Reed and concerned residents went door-to-door around E. 93rd Street to warn neighbors about a number of recent murders and an abduction attempt.
"If we sit back on our heels and do nothing we get another Anthony Sowell," said Zack Reed, who represents Ward 2. Sowell is on death row for killing 11 woman and storing their bodies in and around his home.
The group wants neighbors to know just how close these attacks are happening and just who might be responsible.
"People are very concerned...very concerned," said Reed who added the passed out about 3,000 flyers regarding the meeting and assault protection last week.
