"Superman Day" in Cleveland

(Cleveland) - Mayor Frank Jackson has proclaimed Thursday as “Superman Day” in the City of Cleveland.

He presented a proclamation to the Siegel and Shuster Society marking the 75th anniversary of Superman's 1938 appearance on the cover of DC's "Action Comics" No. 1.

To commemorate the event, a Superman flag was raised on the steps of City Hall with Superman in attendance; lights on City Hall and the Terminal Tower will be blue, red, and yellow.

Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport offered cupcakes for travelers and a birthday card for the hero at its recently-installed Superman Exhibit.

Residents (and fans of Superman near and far) are encouraged to send in their best Superman-poses via twitter #SuperCle.
