(Parma) - Cuyahoga County has awarded $2 million to bring major change to the downtown Parma area. The old Parmatown Mall is slated to be completely redeveloped into the Shoppes At Parma which will include modern retail and medical offices and other amenities.
Two loans worth a million dollars each will be used, in part, to remove asbestos from existing buildings on the 82-acre redevelopment site. The redevelopment project will create about 600 construction jobs while supplying the area with 1,750 retail jobs when it is completed.
Sales tax from the retail operations is projected to be about 3.6 illion dollars with increased taxes as more jobs are created.
