Bedford judge's trial continues

(Cleveland) - The trial of Bedford Municipal Court Judge Harry Jacob III is underway in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

The 57 year old Jacob is charged with prostitution and corruption related counts, in connection with a brothel that was run out of the Walsh Professional building in Bedford.

Jacob has pleaded not guilty and has waived his right to a jury trial. The case is being heard by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Brian Corrigan.

Taking stand Tuesday, 25 year old former prostitute Janice Luks testified that she had sex with Jacob, who she called "Jake", at least 50 times between 2011 and 2013, frequently at hotels in Independence, Garfield Heights and other locations.

Luks, also known as "J.J." testified that on several occasions she and Jacobs engaged in threesomes with another hooker, with the encounters usually taking place during the lunch hour on weekdays.

Questioned by assistant prosecutor Holly Welsh, Luks told the court that Jacob fixed a couple of court cases for her.

She explained that Jacob paid about $400 for each sex session, and usually brought hard lemonade, condoms, massage oil and sometime lingerie with him.

Thursday, a second former prostitute testified that she provided services to Jacob, but denied receiving favorable treatment for a speeding ticket because of her relationship with the judge.

Defense attorney Kevin Spellacy tried to characterize her testimony has unreliable, pointing out that she at denied having sex when first questioned by investigators.

She admitted to not telling the truth at first, because she was trying to protect herself. She acknowledged having a drug problem at the time Jacob was allegedly paying her for sex.
