(Cleveland) - The only police officer facing felony charges in connection with a deadly November 2012 police chase has had his bond set at $10,000, and a not-guilty plea was entered.
Officer Michael Brelo pled not guilty Friday morning to charges of manslaughter in the deaths of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams. An investigation determined that after a police chase that went from downtown to the west side and eventually to East Cleveland, Brelo fired over 50 shots at Russell and Williams.
Five other officers face misdemeanor charges. Their bonds were set at $1,000 each.
Brelo and the other officers have pre-trial hearings set for next Friday.
