(Chardon) - Chardon Schools Treasurer Kevin Staller has been placed on administrative leave.
The district issued a news release Friday saying that the Chardon Board of Education identified inconsistencies in the administration of the District’s approval process related to the payment of invoices.
Upon reviewing these inconsistencies, the Board of Education determined that the procedures for authorization of payment were improperly administered by the Treasurer and Assistant to the Treasurer.
On Tuesday, the Board of Education placed Treasurer, Kevin Staller, on paid administrative leave pending completion of a review of this matter.
Superintendent Michael Hanlon placed Assistant Treasurer Vicki Wojciechowsk on paid administrative leave at the same time.
“The Chardon Local Schools Board of Education takes its fiduciary responsibility very seriously and is committed to ensuring that approval procedures are properly and consistently followed at all times in order to safeguard the fiscal resources of the school district,” stated Board President, Karen Blankenship.
Dr. Hanlon stated, “At this time, there is no evidence of misappropriation or loss of district funds and we are confident that the district will achieve a prompt resolution related to this matter.”
