Cleveland withdraws bid to host DNC convention in 2016

(Cleveland)  Mayor Frank Jackson and host committee chair Terry Egger made the announcement on Friday:  the city is no longer seeking to host the 2016 Democratic Presidential Nominating Convention.

The Republican National Committee announced on July 8th that it had chosen Cleveland as the site for the 2016 GOP Presidential Convention.

The DNC wanted exclusivity, so the city of Cleveland could not host both.

However, Cleveland's team plans to lobby the Democrats on behalf of the city of Columbus to get the convention.
