Harvey Pekar items are up for auction

(Cleveland Heights) - An auction is being conducted to raise funds from Jim Brennan's family. The Cleveland Heights community leader and restaurateur Jim was killed during an attempted robbery in the basement of his popular family pub on June 30. Four suspects are in custody.

Harvey Pekar's widow, Joyce Brabner, has joined an ongoing fundraising effort for Jim's family, noting that four years ago this week, the Cleveland Heights community supported her in a generous way, when Harvey suddenly died.

Brabner has contributed "at least 200 Jazz CDs owned by husband, the famous comic book author, TV, movie and radio personality and noted jazz critic and collector, plus some rare comic books, and various American Splendor souvenirs.

Brabner is also donating her copy of the soundtrack from the couple's award winning movie to the fundraising event to support Jim Brennan’s family and the Brennan’s Colony restaurant.

You can bid on the collection on eBay.

If the items are now sold online the collection will go to a silent auction at a "Cookout for the Colony", to be held in the Church of the Saviour’s North Parking Lot on Sat. July 19 from 4-8pm.

There will be food for sale, a DJ, activities for children, and many other auction items. Joyce Brabner will be among those attending.
