Mayoral Candidate Lanci hosting a prayer vigil

Mayoral Candidate Lanci hosting a prayer vigil

(Cleveland) Cleveland businessman Ken Lanci says if we want to improve the city, we need to focus on the inner-city where both the crime rate and the poverty level is high, before we put our focus on adding more businesses.

Lanci is challenging Mayor Frank Jackson in the November election and was a guest on the Mike Trivisonno show on Thursday.

He says Mayor Jackson doesn't realize how bad crime is in the city "Mayor says "there's a perception that things are bad here", I don't know that it's a perception to the 11 families who lost their daughters."

Lanci says the poverty rate 8 years ago was 27 percent, and it's nearly 35 percent now, worse on Cleveland's east-side.

On Sunday September 25th, Lanci is hosting a vigil at the Wolstein Center called "Faith, Hope, and Love for a better Cleveland". The event is free to the public and refreshments will be served afterwards. Doors open at 3:00 o'clock.
