(Mentor)- Rice Elementary School teacher Jacqui Spetrino was recently nominated to be recognized as an all-star teacher at the MLB All-Star game tomorrow, to represent the Indians and all Northeast Ohio teachers as a part of Target, People Mag, and the MLB's All-Star Teachers.
Jacqui is a single mother of two that struggled through college working full time to raise her children and pay for school. She is a strong advocate for children, and she passes her love of art to every child she teaches.
In a short time, Jacqui has accomplished so much, she spends time with her students at the nearby nursing home to help out and spend time with the residents, her students decorate boxes for pizza night in tandem with a community pizzeria. She also led students in creating pinwheels for Pinwheels for Peace, and leads art show nights at the nearby mall.
Jacqui has an admirable commitment to art and children, teaching the students in traditional and new media, and also instructing the children about how to use digital devices in their art.
Jacqui is being nominated for Teacher of the Year in Mentor, and will be recognized tomorrow at the MLB All-Star Game in Minnesota, representing the Indians and all the great teachers of Northeast Ohio.
"I love the Tribe! I was born here so there's no other way -- I always tell my kids at school that rooting for Cleveland teams teaches loyalty, perseverance, and other good things, you can't just jump ship like Lebron did!" - Jacqui Spetrino
