Parma police arrest bank robbery suspect

(Parma) – A suspected bank robber has been arrested in Parma.

Parma police say Donnivan T. Vanover, 22, of Parma, was responsible for the armed robbery of the Fifth Third Bank branch at 6953 Ridge Road on April 2.

Vanover was arrested thanks to tips from the public, made possible when Parma Police gave out clear surveillance photos of the suspect, which were displayed on wtam.com and in other media.

Parma police tracked Vanover to a relative’s house in Cleveland on the evening of April 7, where he was arrested without incident. Evidence from the bank robbery was found in Vanover’s home.

Police say during the robbery, Vanover approached a teller where he handed a note, demanding money and threatening to shoot her. Vanover also showed what appeared to be a handgun and pointed it at the teller. Vanover received money from the teller and fled the bank in an unknown direction.
