(Cleveland) -- A driver going the wrong way is said to be at fault for a multi-vehicle accident that closed southbound I-77 at Fleet Avenue Wednesday morning, and killing an Eastlake man.
Cleveland Police say a car started going northbound in the southbound lanes of 77 at about 4:30 this morning. That car collided head-on with a second car.
A man in the second car died in the crash. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office identified him as Jack W. Dixon, 48, of Eastlake.
The driver of the wrong-way car was arrested and taken by EMS to MetroHealth Medical Center with critical injuries. Upon release from the hospital, police plan to book him on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault. Alcohol is believed to be a factor, so OVI charges may be filed pending test results.
Police say this crash caused a crash with a third vehicle. The driver of that car had just minor injuries. A Cleveland Police cruiser at the scene was also hit.
