Road rage nearly kills a South Euclid woman

(Bratenahl) - Police in Bratenahl say a fender-bender on the Eddy Rd. overpass over Interstate-90 lead to a road rage incident which nearly took the life of 27-year old Gwendolyn Young of South Euclid.

She and the driver of a pick-up truck got into an accident on the overpass about 7pm Sunday. Upon exiting their vehicles to exchange insurance information, the two got into a verbal dispute. Bratenahl Police Lt. Chuck Lobello says the driver of the pick-up got back into his vehicle and drove away.

Young, however, got entangled or hung onto the vehicle as it sped toward the onramp to I-90 Eastbound. The driver turned onto the ramp, stopped and got out of his vehicle. That's when Lt. Lobello says the driver punched young several times in the face freeing her from his vehicle. The driver then bolted the scene on the highway.

Young was taken to the Metro-Health Medical Center where she is in intensive care. The truck is full-sized, white or silver in color and Lt. Lobello says it could be a Chevy Silverado. Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Bratenahl Police Department at 216-681-1234.
