(Akron) - A major drug crackdown in Summit and Portage Counties.
Thirty-three people have been arrested for trafficking heroin and other drugs in the Akron, Ravenna and Kent areas.
U.S. Attorney Steve Dettelbach says 15 of the suspects are facing federal charges, 18 have been hit with state charges. He tells Newsradio WTAM that all face significant prison time if convicted.
Dettelbach says heroin is not just a problem in big cities like Cleveland, but is also touching smaller towns, and rural areas.
Involved in the crackdown were the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Akron Police, the Portage County Prosecutor's Office, and representatives the Portage and Summit County Sheriff's offices.
