VIDEO: Geauga Lake as it looks today

(Bainbridge) - Geauga Lake has been closed since the end of the 2007 season, but parts of the park are still sitting there rotting away.

The most prominent sight is the Big Dipper, the massive wooden roller coaster that thrilled generations of riders.

Recently, a YouTube video was posted by a person who wanted a look at the park, so he flew a remote controlled aircraft overhead.

"Like everyone, I wanted to see what it looked like on the other side of the big green fence. I flew a RC quadcopter with a camera to have a look around. I don't recommend trying to get into the park as people are caught all the time and security in watching."

It's sad to see a place once dedicated to fun, reduced to concrete and rubble.

The 2007 Oktoberfest  was the final weekend for Geauga Lake.

Owner Cedar Fair (Cedar Point/King's Island) placed the land of amusement park side of the park up for sale. The remaining rides and remnants were auctioned separately on June 17, 2008.

As of January 2013, the Geauga Lake side is still for sale.

And the Big Dipper continues to sag.

So what did it look like? This should make you smile!
