-Josh Gordon is constantly being watched by coaches, fans, and the media. On Monday he had a day that had some scratching their heads. Gordon during individual drills was screamed at by a coach to finish the play.
Gordon didn’t seem thrilled with that. Gordon was pulled out of action after the incident but after practice Coach Chudzinski said Gordon’s absence was due to injury.
-Here’s what Chudzinski had to say about Gordon, “Josh Gordon had some patella tendinitis in his knee. He started out, tried to push through it, but we sat him down for the rest of practice. I’m not concerned about it, shouldn’t be too big of a deal.
-When Chud was asked if Gordon was sat due to lack of hustle, he stuck to his script, “No, it had just been bothering him. He had gone through a little bit of the individual and it was bothering him enough that we stopped it.”
-Either way it will be interesting to watch how the Browns handle Gordon who has immense talent but he also has a way of not always making the best decisions. CEO Joe Banner has already stated that he has a short rope left, but the offense needs him. The question is can they deal with his immature moments?
-Other injuries on the day had Montario Hardesty out again with a hamstring injury. Desmond Bryant sat out again with back spasms. And Tashaun Gipson sat out with a shoulder injury.
-The team worked on its 2 minute drill today that had a little bit of everything. Coach Chudzinski had these thoughts on the day “Well, it was a mix. There was one or two early that the offense that they did well. The defense ended up stopping the offense down tight later on. So, it’s good to have that back-and-forth.
We really want to focus on the situations that come up. We will continue to work those different types of situations where we purposely set up to try to cover everything that can happen at the end of the game.”
-One cornerback other than Joe Haden who has stood out has been newly acquired corner Chris Owens who has opened his coach’s eyes, “He’s done a nice job. I am really pleased with our secondary and the job those guys have done.
Again, going back, it is a competitive group. I love going over there and watching the one-on-ones with the receivers. They are working. I really see improvement in a technique standpoint and that’s what you’re asking the group to do. They’re dialed in.”
-The team will have Tuesday off, and then back at it on Wednesday.
