Spring Training: Phoenix Municipal Stadium

On Wednesday, March 2, the Cleveland Indians and Oakland Athletics played in a Cactus League spring training game at Phoenix Municipal Stadium, the home of the A's. Check it out!

  •
All around the stadium there are these banners honoring former Oakland players. Here is one that honors Ricky Henderson, baseball's all-time steals leader.
  •
Here is the banner honoring Dennis Eckersley. Eckersley was also a former Indians hurler.

Here is the press box. That cement roof above it is as old as the stadium which was built back in the 1960s.

  •
Phoenix Municipal Stadium is one of the oldest ballparks in the Cactus League, but is very nice.
  •
Not too many fans were on hand for the Indians-Athletics game though.
  •
It really was a beautiful day.

Hey! Some Tribe fans in the house!

    Another fiew of the field.
  •
This section is very cool, these are all bleacher seats along the first base side.

  •
Phoenix Municipal Stadium is interesting though in that it does not have outfield seating. Most parks in the Cactus League at least have outfield grass seats.
  •
It could be though because the outfield is surrounded by freeway roads!

    Here come the umpires!

The lineup cards get exchanged and we're ready to play ball. That is Indians bench coach Tim Tolman and former Tribe third base coach now Athletics bench coach Joel Skinner.
